High Tech High is a great example of how education is gradually evolving to better reflect children’s diverse abilities, interests, skills, and lived experiences. Re-creating the pathway of education from the traditional and linear-fashion of teaching to a more student centered approach that provides and supports students with greater autonomy, choice, and voice in what and how they learn. Through exploration, creativity, inquiry, and project-based learning, students are encouraged to pursue meaningful questions, collaborate with others, and construct knowledge in authentic ways. This approach recognizes that children learn in different ways and at different times. They develop understanding through engaging, hands-on experiences that are meaningful and relevant to them.
